A rigorous academic program, a strong sense of personal wellbeing and enthusiastic engagement with co-curricular opportunities are integral to achieving a well-rounded education and to ensure the foundation for future successes.
Students learn to navigate the challenging seas of Year 9. Greater academic rigor and challenge characterise this stage of schooling whilst at the same time, social networks and relationships take centre stage. In both the core subjects and in students' chosen electives they are expected to be fully engaged and take responsibility for their learning. Year 10
Students are encouraged to be alert to the wonderful opportunities offered to them in a range of areas and make the most of them, ensuring personal, academic and social foundations are strong.
Students completing Year 10 receive a Record of School Achievement (RoSA) for the courses studied in Stage 5 (Years 9 & 10) The grades achieved in these courses, together with the A-E grades awarded in the Preliminary HSC, are a good indicator of academic capacity leading into the HSC years. These achievements mark the end of a significant year for Year 10, a year when they make important choices concerning their program of study for Stage 6 and are involved in a wide range of learning activities aimed to extend them as people, scholars and citizens. Year 10 students are encouraged to be alert to the wonderful opportunities offered and make the most of them, ensuring personal, academic and social foundations are strong and prepare students to face the challenges of Years 11 and 12. The emphasis moves to their personal commitment to success, genuine endeavour and co-operation. A rewarding and successful Year 10 is integral to confidently stepping onto a path leading to the Higher School Certificate.
