Hills Grammar has a
- non-selective admission policy where each application is considered on its merits.
- comprehensive intake and is open to all students regardless of cultural, socio-economic or religious background.
- priority given to siblings of children already enrolled and to the children of alumnae.
- practice of providing an equal number of places for boys and girls to ensure gender balance.
- enrolment procedure and practice that complies with the various state and federal anti-discrimination laws.
Enrolling is generally a four-step process. We have key intake years of Early Childhood, Kindergarten and Year 7.
Pre-Admission for ECEC 2024 has already commenced. Please contact the Enrolments Office prior to submitting an application for ECEC 2024.
Applications for Year 7 2024, 2025 and 2026 are now closed.
There is a four step enrolment process.
Applications for enrolment can be made by completing the Enrolment Application Form online.
Prior to submitting an application, families are advised to familiarise themselves with the School's current Fee Schedule and our Tuition Collection Policy. Tuition fees are reviewed annually.
International Students, including Overseas Students studying on a 500 Student Visa, should refer to the International Applications section prior to completing an application form.
A non-refundable Application Fee of $275 is payable when submitting the online application. A non-refundable Application Fee of $220 is payable for each subsequent child. Hills Grammar Alumni are not required to pay an application fee.
Entry-year groups of Kindergarten and Year 7 have significant interest.
To avoid disappointment, families are advised to ensure their child is on the waitlist for these year groups early - in particular we recommend Year 7 applications are received at least 3 years prior to desired commencement.
Once a completed Application Form and the Application Fee have been received by the Enrolments Office, families are placed on the formal Waitlist for the particular year group and starting year.

Two years prior to entry, we begin the first round of preadmission steps. Working through the waitlist, prospective students and their parents will be required to complete a Student Information Form and provide supporting documentation – including birth certificate, references, school reports and NAPLAN results (if applicable), results of public tests, immunisation papers, as well as information relating to any special needs.
Once the documentation is submitted students and their parents will be invited to attend an interview. These interviews are conducted by the relevant Head of School. At this interview, we get to know the students and their families and discuss the School’s expectations of parents and students.
Elective choices for older students will be discussed and clarified prior to confirmation of enrolment.
Following the interview, an Offer of Enrolment may be made. A signed acceptance of this Offer of Enrolment is required, accompanied by a payment of the non-refundable $2,500 Enrolment Fee. This fee secures your place within that year group. The time frame for acceptance of an offer varies based on the timing of your commencement and will be outlined in your Letter of Offer.
The Offer of Enrolment is subject to the Terms and Conditions of Enrolment which can be found here. All enrolments are conditional upon the School being satisfied in its discretion that the Student’s needs can be met by the School.
The School may cancel the enrolment if it determines prior to the start of the enrolment that the student’s needs cannot be met.
The School acknowledges that amendments to a student’s enrolment may be required from time-to-time – for example changing the calendar year of entry. Amendments are not guaranteed and are made with consideration to the demands on the waitlist. One amendment may be provided by the School free of charge, should a place in the requested Year Group be available. Any additional amendments will incur a fee, payable at the time of amendment.
It is important that you advise the Enrolments Office of any change in your contact details so that we have up-to-date information.
For further information about enrolments, please contact the Enrolments Office via hg.enrolments@hillsgrammar.nsw.edu.au or call (02) 9654 2111.

The School has appointed Australian Boarding Schools International (ABSI) to facilitate and manage international student enquiries and applications for Hills Grammar. ABSI is not an agent; it is a member of our enrolments team. Agents should direct enquiries to enrol@australianboardingschools.com.au. ABSI can advise on the suitability of the enrolment including whether a period in the Hills International Education High School Preparatory course would be recommended.
The following process will be completed to progress the application.
There is a three-step enrolment process:
Applications for Overseas Students studying on a 500 Student Visa can be made by completing the International Students Application Form. A non-refundable Application Fee of $275 is payable when submitting the online application. Hills Grammar Alumni are not required to pay an application fee. All applications for students on a 500 Visa are processed by ABSI. Applications made directly to the School will be forwarded to ABSI for administering.
ABSI will collect and compile required documentation related to international enrolments which will include:
- ABSI Expression of Interest form
- A copy of the student's birth certificate, translated into English if necessary
- A copy of the information page of the student’s passport
- A copy of the student’s latest school report translated into English
- A copy of the student’s English Proficiency test results (ISTART Online or AEAS).
- Character references
- Handwritten essay
ABSI may ask for additional information if necessary.
ABSI will make a recommendation to the School regarding the student’s suitability for enrolment at Hills Grammar including whether entry should be via Hills International Education (HIE). The following High School Preparation Courses are offered to eligible students:
- Pre-Intermediate
- Intermediate
- Upper Intermediate
The Head of International Students will review the paperwork and confirm if the student is suitable for interview. This is usually arranged over Skype or WeChat at a mutually convenient time. At this interview, we get to know the students and the families and discuss the School’s expectations of parents and students. Prior to interview students will be asked to fill out a Student Information form providing further details about the student including hobbies and interests.
Following the interview, an Offer of Enrolment may be made. The conditional letter of offer will state the conditions that must be reached prior to entry. These will include where appropriate the period of time in HIE. A signed acceptance of this Offer of Enrolment is required. For international students, this must be accompanied by a payment of the non-refundable $2,500 Enrolment Fee; an enrolment deposit of $6,000 and payment of the first term’s fees.
Upon successful receipt of these documents and after payment has been cleared, a Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) and, where required, the Confirmation of Approved Accommodation and Welfare (CAAW) will be released.
International students are required to have overseas student health cover (OSHC) for the length of their student visa and must show evidence of this before commencing enrolment. Evidence of an approved guardian appointed for the duration of their enrolment who can act on behalf of the student’s parents or legal carers and assist with all aspects of the student’s welfare including on-going communication with the School whilst residing in Australia will form part of this agreement.
Prior to the commencement date, the School will send the student information about their first day, as well as and general requirements regarding uniforms, books and subject choices.
It is important that you advise the Enrolments Office of any change in your contact details so that we have up-to-date information.
