Can you provide an overview of your career journey so far?

After finishing year 12, I pursued a Bachelor of Medical Science at the University of Sydney, followed by a postgraduate medical degree at the same institution. My journey as a medical professional began in 2015 when I started working as a junior doctor. I underwent an internship and residency at Westmead Hospital before seeking training in Orthopaedic surgery through the Australian Orthopaedic Association. Concurrently, I completed a module in traumatology at the University of Newcastle. In 2019, I commenced Orthopaedic training, serving in various capacities across New South Wales (NSW) and the Australian Capital Territory (ACT). After completing my training, I attained qualification as an orthopaedic surgeon in 2023. Currently, I am practising in regional NSW, specialising in trauma, as well as foot and ankle surgery.

What inspired you to pursue this career path?

Initial inspiration came from family. Both my father and grandfather are surgeons.

Once I got exposed to the field, I fell in love with it and realised there wasn’t anything else I was as interested in. I find the science of medicine and surgery fascinating. Orthopaedics allows you to have significant positive impacts on people’s quality of life.

What are your future aspirations?

I will work in the public and private sectors in regional NSW. (Northern rivers). Teaching to medical students and surgeons in training.

What advice can you give to our Hills Originals?

Hard work negates luck and talent. You don’t need to be a genius to be a doctor, you just need commitment and perseverance.
