On Friday September 6, Hills Grammar's Junior Debate team attended the HICES Debating Grand Final at the University Of Technology, Sydney.
Our students were recognised for their debating skills, with Lachlan being invited on stage by the HICES Debating Chair, Mr Paul Teys.
Mr Teys presented Lachlan with a certificate for “The Best Debater Preliminary Rounds – Overall Winner HICES Junior Division”, and then later with the “Runner Up Junior Division, Best Debater Semi- Final Rounds”. Mr Teys congratulated him for achieving top marks in every debate that he was in - what an extraordinary individual.
Later, Mr Teys called out the names of 10 runners up from the Preliminary Junior Division, with Hills Grammar student, Tanya also being recognised.
The students who attended thoroughly enjoyed their roles and were proud to represent Hills Grammar, despite missing out on the Grand Final Winning position, which was awarded to The Illawarra Grammar School.
Congratulations to all involved as this was an extraordinary outcome, and showed the dedication Mr Clendinning and Mr Horsburgh have to training and guiding our Hills Grammar Junior Debating teams.
