Welcome Back Sarah

Welcome back to Sarah Wilson (Year 10), who has returned from nearly 3 months in Japan - staying at our sister school in Hiroshima (Takeda), then travelling for the final 2 weeks of her stay. Sarah was a wonderful representative of the Languages Department. Mr Souther (Takeda English teacher/exchange organiser), noted, ‘Wherever Sarah went ... she did nothing but add value and make people happy. Sarah made the most of every situation and was a model for language learning and being open and positive to every opportunity in a foreign county. She set the bar high.’ Sarah was able to travel to Hong Kong on a school trip with her Japanese peers (having studied Mandarin since she was young, she translated for her Japanese friends), stay with six different school families and make a television appearance in a local program. Christmas day was spent making rice cakes in her host family’s shop, participating in the Judo Co-curricular club and meeting the Director of the famous animation ‘In This Corner of the World’ at Takeda’s 200 year anniversary celebration.
