A four times nominated and twice awarded Walkley award winner, we are very proud of Robert’s admirable career in journalism.
His career seemed to have commenced early in his Hills education as he was asked to compère the very first Hills Grammar Soirée (an annual variety show) in Year 8. He was on the inaugural Gallimaufry Year Book committee and was Chief Editor of the School Languages Magazine - ACCENT. In 1988 he was awarded a high distinction in the Sydney Morning Herald Young Writer of the Year Competition.
He studied Communications and French at Macquarie University before beginning his journalism career in regional television in Wagga Wagga. Since then, he has become Sydney’s pre-eminent crime reporter covering significant stories from the 2002 Sydney bushfires to the Iraq war.
He has collected two prestigious Walkley awards for his coverage of both the Iguanagate scandal that engulfed the NSW and federal governments and his expose into an Australian Defence Force sex scandal cover-up.
He has anchored news bulletins from Seven’s Morning News, and The Morning Show to Today Tonight and the Nightly Seven News.
We are very fortunate to engage Rob regularly as a Master of Ceremonies and guest at school events.
