On Friday 9 June, the Junior School played host to our annual Grandparents and Friends Day. Around 400 Grandparents and special friends visited our school and were entertained at a welcome Assembly.

Our Junior School Captains and Vice Captains MC’d the event, which included fun grandparent themed poems, a stellar performance from the Junior String Ensemble and an impressive solo performance from Jack Theakston of Year 5 on cello. All students then performed a song (with actions) for their special visitors.

Mr Yeowell welcomed everyone and recounted his own experiences as a grandchild, before sending our guests to visit classrooms and the Scholastic Book Fair.

Our event culminated in a morning tea where scones were extremely popular along with lashings of jam and cream. Perfect with a cup of tea or coffee.

Our visitors were very complimentary about the beauty of our school, the learning environments of our classrooms, and the manners of our students. Fortunately, the rain that had been plaguing us in the week leading up to Grandparents Day did not revisit us during the event.

The day is a very special one on our calendar and it was lovely to see our students enthusiastically sharing their learning and connecting with their special visitors. A big thank you to all the organising staff and to classroom teachers for their creative presentations of the Grandparents poems.
