On Wednesday 10 and Friday 12 May, we welcomed families to an ECEC Mothers’ Day Afternoon Tea. The children spent weeks preparing for the event and they were very excited during the lead up to these special days.

Literacy and numeracy skills were observed as the children discussed and wrote recipes and shopping lists for the ingredients they required. During the preparation and cooking process, the children followed recipes as they measured out the correct ingredients. It was a wonderful opportunity for the children to further develop their skills as they prepared for the afternoon teas.

Both afternoon teas were very successful with each room filled with excitement and love from the children and families. The children enjoyed the opportunity to show their families all of the learning that takes place within each room as they played and ate with their familes for the afternoon.
