Students in Years K-4 joined students from the Thomas Pattison School this week at a performance of El Kid, presented by Australia’s national opera company, Opera Australia. Powered by some of the most famous melodies from the opera Carmen by Georges Bizet, the story of El Kid is based on the Norwegian folktale Three Billy Goats Gruff. With many memorable and widely recognised songs, such as the Toreador’s Song and Habanera, Carmen is one of the best-loved operas of all time. Students were introduced to the story by the four characters: Little Bill Goat (Diego), Middle Sized Billy Goat (Isabella), Great Big Billy Goat (Ferdinand) and The Troll.
