ECEC to Year 4 participated in National Simultaneous Story Time, reading a beautiful story about persistence and resilience called “The Cow Tripped Over the Moon” by Tony Wilson and Illustrated by Laura Wood. Students were also encouraged to use their imagination that even an old childhood rhyme can be given a fresh story and depth. Last year over 520,000 children participated in National Simultaneous Story Time including the Hills Grammar Junior School. The event is a wonderful celebration of Reading, Literacy and the work of Australian Children’s authors. ECEC students read the story while visiting Nexus throughout the morning and Kindy to Year 4 met at the RJ Phipps Performance Centre at 10.30am to be part of the national event. Before we finished we also celebrated the fact that nine more of our students have completed the Premier’s Reading Challenge 2017. Ivy Simpson (Year 2) who earlier completed her Challenge joined the K-4 group for the photo holding “The Cow Tripped Over the Moon”. Thank you parents for encouraging your children to keep reading. The Premier’s Reading Challenge finishes on August 25!
The Challenge was recently completed by:
