Book Parade

On Friday 25 August, ECEC and the Junior School dressed up as their favourite characters for the annual Book Parade. We had pirates, princesses, superheroes, and many more characters make an appearance on the catwalk. It was so much fun seeing all the amazing costumes and characters. Earlier in the week, the students participated in various book week lunchtime activities such as a puppet show, photo booth, drama games and pirate eye-patch decorating.
A BIG thank you to everyone who got involved, it was a fabulous week!

Book Week

Book Week was a joyous celebration of literacy and letting books help us to 'Escape to Everywhere' in our imaginations. The program was packed with Monday afternoon parents visiting classrooms and telling stories from their culture. Miss Sciacchitano ran lunch time puppet shows for ECEC and Infants classes. She also ran lunch time drama games. Mrs Milligan and Mrs Star had fun with a photo booth. Author Gavin McCormack visited from ECEC to Year 4 to read and introduce his new picture book Where’s My Memory plus discuss the process from story idea to publication. Gavin ran a very helpful creative writing workshop for Years 5 and 6. We also enjoyed a visit from author Will Kostakis on Thursday.

Classroom doors were decorated with beautiful book themed creations, picking the winners was a very difficult task for Mr Yeowell! The winning doors were ECEC4, 1M with their delightful Strega Nona by Tomie dePaola  spaghetti and 1M as Italian villagers taking over their door. 4K with their Roald Dahl George’s Marvellous Medicine themed door had truly 'marvellous' drawings created by the students.

The Book Parade was an amazing event. Thank-you parents, grandparents and other family members that took the time to dress the children and then come and support them at the parade. The costumes were wonderful and the book themes varied.

It was an exciting and event-filled week.
